We had a great planning meeting last week!
Fiona Bevan has womanfully volunteered to organise the next year’s programme of monthly workshops and Anita Collier is going to organise our January dinner. Many thanks to Jane Pyatt, Penny Welsh & Anne Linham who have carried out these roles over the past year.
Nicky Francis has said that whilst she’s willing to carry on maintaining the membership list and managing communications with members, she’s more than happy to hand this job over if someone who wasn’t at the meeting would like to get more involved in organising the group – please contact Nicky directly and she can explain what’s involved.
Pam Zelly is happy to keep looking after the cash, but Buddy Drescher will now be issuing your membership invoices.
Jennie Wood will produce and issue press releases on behalf of MBWF and keep our virtual presence up to date but she needs us all to provide her with raw material…… We agreed that rather than have a designated ‘review writer’, we would ask for a volunteer at each meeting who will write a review of that meeting and also find out some information about the next meeting (we are developing a template to make this easier!).
There were some suggestions for enhancements to our cool new web site (thanks to Helen Mercer designing & implementing this) and also suggestions for some other fun things that we might do outside the monthly meeting format (volunteers will be needed to organise these!).
So, whilst we have volunteers for all the jobs necessary to keep MBWF functioning, there’s always more that could be done: Fiona would love to hear from anyone who would like to have a go at chairing meetings (great experience for those who’ve never done it before, and you couldn’t hope to find a more receptive and friendly audience to practice on). And I’m sure that Anita will welcome some support in organising the dinner.

Yes it was a good productive meeting and great that the events for next year are already forming thanks to good sound ideas coming forth. As MBWF is an unstructured forum we tend to worry before the planning meeting hoping that we will get volunteers. This APM has had a brilliant response to requests which is so good as it breathes new life into the forum so moving forward all the time.

I was sorry not to be able to get to the meeting and I am delighted to hear it went so well. The ‘organisers’ last year did a great job and I’m sure it will be just as good this year. As Helen says, it does feel like new life is being breathed in all the time, and that’s great. Jenny, I think we are very lucky to have you too – you are really good at making it easy for us to do this stuff on-line!

I enjoyed the meeting and I have had some great support from members in putting together the programme for the year.
I hope to have the full programme shortly so watch this space!
